The Financial District’s streets are older than Manhattan’s grid, and many are narrow, short and angled. On weekdays the blocks around Wall Street are crowded with office workers. In the evening the same area hosts corporate dinners, holiday parties and weddings in former bank buildings, plus restaurants around Stone Street and the South Street Seaport. Stone Street itself is a pedestrian dining street, so the drop-off for those restaurants has to be on a nearby street that cars can reach.

Most Financial District events start soon after the workday ends, so arrivals bunch into a short window. Office buildings add their own details, such as whether a security desk or loading dock affects where guests are received, and we settle those with the venue in advance. Corporate programs usually end at a set time, so we prepare for most guests asking for their cars within the same few minutes.
